2018 Ahead of the Class Excellence award ceremony tonight, April 2

Renton educators will be celebrated at the ceremony starting 6:30 p.m. at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.

The 2018 Ahead of the Class Excellence award ceremony is tonight, April 2 at Virginia Mason Athletic Center, 12 Seahawks Way.

Ten Renton educators were selected as finalists for the education awards. Five winners will be announced at the ceremony.

The finalists are:

  • Barbara Piscioneri – CHILD – K-8 Arts/Humanities
  • Haley Bergman, Kennydale Elementary
  • Steven Pennington – St. Anthony’s – Math and Religion
  • Sean Davis – Albert Talley High School
  • Michele Lesmeister, Renton Technical College
  • Molly Dundon, Meadow Crest Early Learning Center
  • Julie Randall, Hazelwood Elementary
  • Mallie Mayfield, Risdon Middle School
  • Rory Magana – Hazen High School – Heath/PE
  • Tamra Hood – Renton Prep

Winners will receive trophies and cash prices.

The event is open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The Ahead of the Class award program is a partnership between the Renton Chamber of Commerce, Renton public and private schools, and Renton businesses. The program’s aim is to enhance community awareness of the excellence of education in Renton.
