Renton educators honored at Ahead of the Class award ceremony

The five winners received $500 checks at the ceremony on April 2.

Renton educators were honored at the 17th annual Ahead of the Class award ceremony April 2 at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.

Of the 10 teachers nominated, five were chosen as winners and were presented checks for $500. The remaining finalists received $100 each.

The educators who won includes Michele Lesmeister from Renton Technical College, Molly Dundon from Meadow Crest Early Learning Center, Mallie Mayfield from Risdon Middle School, Rory Magana from Hazen High School and Tamra Hood from Renton Prep.

The Ahead of the Class award program is a partnership between the Renton Chamber of Commerce, Renton public and private schools and Renton businesses. The program’s aim is to enhance community awareness of the excellence of education in Renton.
