A multiple-vehicle collision at about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday was blocking the northbound lanes of Interstate 405 just north of its interchange with State Route 167, according to the Washington state Department of Transportation.
The lanes were reopened at about 10:15 a.m.
The back up on I-405 was about two miles at about 9:45 a.m.
The accident also backed up traffic about two miles on northbound SR 167.
Drivers were reporting from the scene that they are not moving and many have turned off their engines.
The accident also was affecting traffic in Renton, as drivers sought other options to travel north.
The Washington State Patrol, the transportation department’s Incident Response team and fire and aid crews were on the scene.
