Hazen tennis continued their undefeated ways this week with wins Monday over Lindbergh and Wednesday over Kennedy.
The Highlanders rolled to a 5-2 victory over the Eagles Monday with wins in three of the four singles matches and two of the three doubles matches.
In her second singles match, Hazen’s Elise Wong defeated Dalen Elenzano 6-1, 6-0. In third singles Kristal Kozai beat Mint Pearyoo 6-1, 6-0 and in the fourth singles match Ashley Wong bested Jenny Lieu 6-0, 6-0.
Only Liezel Villanueva picked up a win for Lindbergh with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Lesley Wong.
In doubles play, the Hazen team of Haley Strandberg and Kitty Ling beat Jessica Tiamzon and Myranda Dang 6-0, 6-2. The second doubles team of Tina Chung and Naima Shaltu beat Bonnie Yip and Geeia Flores 6-2, 5-7, 10-7. Lindbergh’s doubles victory came as Colette Perry and Jolene Truong bested Gabbie Solis and Catherine Lin 6-2, 2-6, 10-8.
On Wednesday, Hazen kept it rolling with a 4-3 win over Kennedy Catholic.
According to coach Gail Ellis, the Highlanders picked up the win despite missing four players who are participating in the state competition for the Future Business Leaders of America in Spokane.
Wins came from Strandberg in first singles, Kozai in second singles and Ashley Hwang in third singles. In doubles play, Hazen’s Shaltu and Chung sealed the win for the Highlanders.
Hazen is now 13-0 and are scheduled to play at Tyee on Friday.
