Renton police arrested a suspect in a burglary Wednesday afternoon near Lindbergh High School, which was about to dismiss students for the day.
Several Renton police cars responded to a call at about 2:15 p.m. from a school resource officer at Lindbergh about a vehicle parked at the school, according to Renton police.
The officer pointed out the vehicle to responding officers as it left the parking lot. The vehicle was stopped nearby and an 18-year-old man was arrested for investigation of burglary, according to Renton police.
He was booked into Renton City Jail.
According to police, the school was concerned about the possibility of a lock down, but police told the school it could release its students.
The incident unfolded in front of the Renton Park Chapel in the 16700 block of 128th Avenue Southeast.
As she was watching from inside the church, a witness reported that police had guns drawn as individuals were removed from the red car.
The police activity, she said, “was almost close enough to touch.”
