Recently sworn-in Public Hospital District No. 1 commissioner Dr. Chris Monson was fined $450 Tuesday by the Public Disclosure Commission for campaign reporting violations.
The PDC commissioner who conducted the hearing in Olympia suspended all but $50 of the fine under the conditions that Monson pay the $50 within 30 days and commits no other reporting violations for six years, according to Lori Anderson, a PDC spokeswoman.
Monson’s term as a commissioner is six years. He was sworn in on Jan. 4.
Monson testified by phone for the hearing.
Monson didn’t file any of the required candidate or financial paperwork, which the PDC discovered in December when comparing the general election results to its list of candidates, according to Anderson.
The PDC received Monson’s “personal financial affairs statement” on Dec. 29.
Monson had indicated in a letter to the PDC in June that he would not accept the office if elected. He beat longtime commissioner Carolyn Parnell in the November general election.
The hearing was set after he won the election and was sworn in as a commissioner.
