A possible attempt to lure a child into a truck was reported near McKnight Middle School at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Renton Police Department.

A 12-year-old female student told police she was walking near the school in the 1200 block of Edmonds Avenue Northeast when she noticed a truck with a man inside parked on on Northeast 12th Street.

The male driver rolled down his window and beckoned to her, telling her in Spanish to come to his truck, according to police. The student fled and notified school staff.

The driver is described as a Latino male in his early to mid-20s, with black hair and a goatee. The truck was a newer white pickup with a canopy and carrying a ladder.

Renton Police want to speak with the driver about this incident, and are urging anyone with information to call 425-430-7500 and refer to case 12-5223.
