Liberty opened the season with a non-league 6-5 loss to Lake Washington Monday. The Patriots (0-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and led 2-1 heading into the sixth inning. In that frame the Kangs scored five runs.

The Patriots responded in the bottom of the sixth with three runs. Two of them came on a single by Troy Colyer. Colyer finished the game 2-3 with a run and three RBI’s.

John McLeod went 1-4 with an RBI at the plate, but took the loss on the mound after he entered the game in relief.
