Maybe it was karma or just good luck, but a detective with the King County Sheriff’s Office got his man and woman almost handed to him.

Detective Jeff Johnson was at the EZ Cash Super Pawn about noon today (Tuesday), putting a hold on some stolen goods – jewelry and a small flat-screen TV stolen last week in the Mirrormont area near Issaquah.

As he was leaving, a couple was just arriving at the pawn shop on Sunset Boulevard near State Route 169. They looked familiar. Turns out they were the ones who had pawned the jewelry and TV on which Johnson had just placed a hold.

This time, they were bringing in a laptop computer.

He detained the man and told the woman to stay put.

“She didn’t listen,” he said. She took off in the pickup truck, headed down SR 169. She was caught a short distance down the highway after a police pursuit.

Renton Police officers assisted in the arrests and in the pursuit.

The two, who are in their 20s, were arrested for burglary and trafficking in stolen property. One of them may be linked to a burglary in Renton.

“I don’t know if it’s karma,” said Johnson of the lucky break. “It doesn’t happen very often.”
