Renton, Lindbergh boys both win, will face off on Saturday

Renton advanced with a 54-48 win over Washington while Lindbergh bested White River 69-53.

Both the Renton and Lindbergh boys basketball teams won their loser-out games last night in the district tournament, setting up a match-up between the two teams this weekend.

Because of their wins, both teams will make the regional tournament next week. Saturday’s game will determine the seeding.

Renton advanced with a 54-48 win over Washington while Lindbergh bested White River 69-53.

Daebron Waters-Mitchell led the way for Renton with 13 points, followed by Artavais Wade with 11.

The game was tight all the way through, with Renton getting the better of Washington in the first and second periods to take a 28-25 lead into the half.

But Washington rallied in the third to go ahead 38-36 as the teams headed into the fourth quarter.

But the Indians refused to go away and responded with an 18-10 fourth period to pick up the win.

No statistics were available from the Lindbergh-White River game.

The two teams will square off at noon Saturday at Curtis High School in Puyallup. Both teams will advance to the regional tournament. The winner will be the fifth seed, the loser will be the sixth seed.
