The City of Renton is making it even easier to obtain various building permits due to a new online service. Now available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the online building permitting gives building professionals and Renton residents self-service, online access to permit information and services.
“We are delighted to offer mybuildingpermit.com as another expansion to the city’s online web-based services,” said Renton Mayor Denis Law. “By expediting the permitting process for building professionals, the online permitting system helps us fulfill our goal of providing high-quality service to our community and continuing to make Renton a great place to invest and do business. We are able to use Internet technology to make permitting more convenient, increase efficiency and
enhance the level of service to our residents, businesses, and potential investors.”
With a few clicks of the mouse, the online building permitting system enables users to apply for and receive a final permit electronically in minutes. The service is currently available for mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and low voltage electrical permits through the mybuildingpermit.com site, a service of the regional e-CityGov Alliance.
The online services are limited to simpler permits that are not subject to normal plan submittal and plan review requirements. Applicants will also have online access to cancel permits, track permit status, schedule inspections and to research permit requirements. The online service can be accessed through www.mybuildingpermit.com and rentonwa.gov.
The city has implemented additional technology initiatives that further enhance its ability to serve its customers efficiently. These include options to pay bills online, submit police reports for non-emergency incidents, register for recreation programs, view library catalogs and more.
An Information Kiosk is now available at Renton City Hall (first floor lobby) with live links to the city’s online services.
