The Highline Pirates may still be looking for their first goal of the season, but they are counting a point in the standings after a 0-0 draw against the Highlanders.

And Hazen Soccer is hoping the lost two points don’t play a role in their effort to three-peat as league champions.

“Give credit to Highline, they played well. They disrupted everything that’s been working for us,” said Hazen coach Ken Matthews. “There are a couple of places we can’t find any consistency; that’s just killing the continuity of our play. We can’t win games that we don’t move and play at pace.”

Matthews has predicated an improvement in Seamount play this year. With that comes a tougher road to the championship. “There is no margin for error in this league. The draw has us looking up at Kennedy. Tyee and Foster drew tonight, so that means we have a big challenge to get points back – and we’re playing Foster Friday,” he ended.

The Highlanders play Foster Friday at Renton Memorial Stadium.
