POLICE BLOTTER: Man punched in face, robbed

The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports:

A man in his early 20s was punched in the face and robbed in the Fred Meyer parking lot at 365 Renton Center Way S.W. Nov. 8.

The suspect followed the victim in the parking lot asking for help to look for something. The victim refused, and when he turned into a walkway, the suspect robbed him and ran.

A K9 was used to track the suspect, but was unsuccessful at locating a specific building.

Attempted car theft

Someone broke into a Toyota RAV4, but only did the car damage and left his or her beer can Nov. 3.

It appeared the suspect attempted to steal the car, from damage done to the turn signal indicator, passenger side airbag and ignition, on the 1800 block of Index Avenue Northeast.

The victim complained that the car smelled of alcohol, and police attempted to lift prints from the beer can without success.

Warehouse break-in

Two businesses and two motor homes were broken into at the Pan Adobe Homes site at 4350 Lake Washington Blvd. N. Nov. 7.

The warehouse wasn’t secure, and most of the locked areas were broken into by prying off locks.

About $15,000 in tools and drills was taken from one business and about $3,000 from a music studio.

Nothing appeared to be taken from the motor homes, but they were each rummaged through.

Police lifted two sets of hand prints as well as shoe and tire prints. It had been raining heavily the night of the burglary.

The warehouse is visible from the freeway near the Seahawks practice arena.

Warrant arrest

Police arrested a man with a $5,050 warrant for his arrest for first-degree theft and second-degree vehicle prowl on North First Street and Wells Avenue North.

The man had a spring-loaded, 4-inch knife and a flat-head screw driver in his pocket, a tool often used for breaking into cars Nov. 5.

The officer, who was patrolling the area because of a recent increase in car thefts, stopped to talk to talk to the lone man.

The man said he was walking to SeaTac. He was headed in the wrong direction. The officer ran his name, before discovering the warrant and arresting him.

Attempted break-in

Someone attempted to knock down the sliding-glass doors at the former location of Joe’s Sporting Goods at 915 N. Landing Way, Nov. 5.

Police noticed a “golf-ball sized divot” in a door, which was knocked off its tracks.

The estimated damage was about $500. No one gained access to the building.
