The city on May 17 officially opened the Meadow Crest playground.

Renton Mayor Denis Law, Superintendent Merri Rieger, Community Services Administrator Terri Higashiyama and former Renton School District Superintendent Mary Alice Heuschel were all in attendance, along with Blitz, the Blue Thunder drumline and dozens of smiling kids eager to try out the new facility.

The colorful, $2 million playground sits on land owned by both the Renton School District and the City and the playground is designed to be inclusive, or for all children, no matter their abilities or disabilities.

The playground is located at 3000 N. E. 16th St. in the Highlands. For more information visit www.rentonwa.gov.
