The King County Medical Examiner’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a man recovered from the water near Foster Island in Seattle on Sept. 3.

The area is part of the University of Washington Arboretum.

It’s estimated the man died sometime in mid-to-late August; the medical examiner ruled his death a suicide by drowning. Efforts to identify the man have been unsuccessful, according to the medical examiner.

Following is information about the man:

• young-to-middle-aged white male, 5-foot-10, 209 pounds, with black or brown hair and a possible receding hairline

• no facial hair, no visible scars, and no tattoos

• all teeth are present with the exception of the lower left first molar, and several teeth have fillings; he has a noticeable gap between his upper front teeth

• he was wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt, black Merrell brand sneakers, and a black backpack.
