Six comics will compete at the first Renton Comedy Contest at DC’s Bar and Grill Jan. 22 at 8:30 p.m. Those six performers will have six minutes of stage time. The audience will then vote on paper for their two favorite comics. The top two vote getters will then return to stage and perform 15 more minutes of material. The audience will then select the winner.
First prize is $150, a sash and tiara and guaranteed booking at DC’s. Second prize is
$50.
Adam Norwest is hosting and producing the show. The Renton stand-up comedian will perform during the tallying of the votes.
Norwest helped select the six comics. Most have performed at DC’s.
“I think it’s going to be probably the best show that I’ve produced,” he said. “Not only at DC’s, but in general.”
Norwest has produced shows throughout the state.
“The comics are all really strong, they’re all really good performers,” Norwest added. “I think it’s going to be tough for the audience.”
If successful, the show could become an annual Renton event.
