Seahawks hosting free melanoma screenings at Thursday’s game

While melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, it’s almost always curable when caught early and treated properly.

Even on an overcast day in Seattle, up to 80 percent of the sun’s harmful UV rays can pass through the clouds. As a result, more than 2,300 new cases of melanoma will be diagnosed this year in Washington State – six times as many as sunny Hawaii.

While melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer, it’s almost always curable when caught early and treated properly.

That’s why the Seattle Seahawks are teaming up with Melanoma Exposed to offer fans free skin cancer screenings at Touchdown City in the CenturyLink Field Event Center, before the team’s pre-season game against Oakland on Thursday.

The free screenings will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at the CLink.
