The owner of a pub in the 1300 block of Union Avenue Northeast and a customer had to jump to safety when a customer earlier banned from the pub tried to hit them – twice – with his vehicle, according to Renton police.
Despite the ban, the 41-year-old Renton man entered the pub. He left when asked, but circled the parking lot in his Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The owner joined a customer on the sidewalk outside. The Jeep accelerated backward toward them, but stopped short.
The suspect adjusted the angle of his vehicle so that it was in direct alignment with the two men, according to police. The men moved out of the vehicle’s path when the suspect put the vehicle in reverse.
The owner called police. The suspect fled, but was stopped in the 2800 block of Northeast Sunset Boulevard.
He was booked into Renton City Jail for felony investigation of attempted vehicular assault.
