Some roads in Renton will close for a time Sunday for the 2011 Seahawks 12K Run at the Landing Sunday.

The event is expected to draw thousands of participants to Renton.

The Seahawks 12K Run will start at 9 a.m. and finish at The Landing, run along the southeast shore of Lake Washington and offer participants a unique opportunity to run around the Seahawks training facility, the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.

The event will also feature the Valley Medical Center 5K Run/Walk that will also start at 9 a.m. and tour The Landing and surrounding Renton neighborhoods, as well as the Seahawks Play 60 Kids Run that starts at 10:30 a.m. and will be completely contained within The Landing.

The Seahawks 12K Run at The Landing will help raise money for the Renton/Skyway Boys & Girls Club.

Participants can register online. Also they can register for the run from 7:30 a.m.-9:45 a.m. on Sunday before the races begin. The cost to register on race day is $45 for the 12K Run; $40 for the 5K Run/Walk, and $10 for the Kids Run.

Participants can pick up race packets a day early, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, at the Packet Pick-up Event in the community room at The Landing, in between Panda Express and Verizon Wireless. Runners can also register then. Payment is by check or cash.

Some roads will close to accommodate the runners.

• Northbound and southbound Lake Washington Boulevard North will be closed between North Park Drive and I-405 (near Seahawks Way) from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Local circulation between minor intersecting streets and driveways will be allowed where possible only when it does not jeopardize the safety of the runners.

• Southbound Park Avenue North will be closed between North Park Drive and North Fourth Street at 8:30 a.m. and will reopen at approximately 10 a.m..

• Logan Avenue North will be closed between North Third Street and Park Avenue North at 8:30 a.m. and will reopen at approximately 11 a.m.
