King County is seeking two community members to serve on the advisory committee for the Cedar River Corridor Plan to develop long-range strategy and action recommendations for cutting flood risks and improving salmon habitat.

The goal of the Advisory Committee is to represent local perspectives and to serve as a sounding board at key milestones in the development of the Corridor Plan, which is funded by the King County Flood Control District.

The two resident-at-large positions will serve with other Advisory Committee members who represent community, business, government and non-profit agencies, respectively, with interests in flood risk reduction; habitat recovery; and recreational, residential and business uses in the floodplain.

Applications are due Jan. 9.

Advisory Committee members will be expected to help build a common understanding of the future vision of the Cedar River; assist with refining the goals and objectives; serve as a two-way source of information and ideas – both disseminating project progress with peers, and bringing back valuable insights to the committee; and providing a public voice to help guide the project.

If selected to serve on the Advisory Committee, members will be asked to attend approximately eight committee meetings and any public meetings from January 2015 through March 2016.
