• This week crews with the Washington state Department of Transportation in Renton and Tukwila will continue road widening work on I-405 and SR 167 .
Today, during the night and early morning hours, crews may close the SR 518 ramp to northbound I-405, the northbound I-5 ramp to northbound I-405 and the Tukwila Parkway ramp to northbound I-405 to re-stripe lanes. The work is weather dependent and could be rescheduled for the next available dry night.
Through Thursday, during the night and early morning hours, crews may close up to two lanes in each direction of I-405 and up to two lanes of southbound SR 167.
Specific closure details will be posted on WSDOT’s construction updates Web site by noon on Friday: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Northwest/King/Construction/#7295
Contract awarded
to replace culvert
• On March 4, the transportation department competitively selected contractor Tri-State Construction to install a new culvert to carry Thunder Hills Creek underneath I-405 in Renton.
The existing culvert collapsed in the Dec. 3 rainstorm. In late December crews working for WSDOT completed all three runs of pipe in the new emergency pumping system to protect I-405 from a heavy rainstorm.
Crews will begin installing the new culvert in early spring. Installation should be complete in late spring or early summer.
