The City of Renton is planning to participate in the National Night Out Aug. 4, offering residents free food, games and inflatables.
Events are from 4-7:30 at the Highlands Community Center, 800 Edmonds Ave. N.E.
Neighborhoods have been encouraged to plan their own events from 7-10 p.m.
The program is designed to bring together communities and help raise drug and crime awareness by doing the following:
• Generating support for and participation in local anticrime efforts.
• Strengthening neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
• Sending a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
