Four recent Kentridge High School graduates received their Eagle Scout badges at a Court of Honor Aug. 21.
Eagle Scout is the highest achievement in the Boy Scouts. Jason Jorgenson, Justin Lee, Adam Beck and Ryan Lock, all 18, are all members of troop 449.
Each boy was required to complete a service project to receive the award.
Jorgenson led a team of a 11 volunteers in demolishing and replacing deteriorating stairs and arbor at the Nativity Lutheran Church.
Lock raised money and collected materials to make 143 backpack kits for families who use Domestic Abuse Women’s Network for support. Exceeding his goal, he was also able to donate 26 $20 Safeway gift cards and a $100 Fred Meyer gift card.
Lee organized 30 volunteers to build a 260-foot, split-rail fence at the Lake Desire Community Club, which was having problems with vandals and cars being driven through the grounds.
Beck led a team of volunteers in installing a 50-foot cement walking path and a bench at the Nativity Lutheran Church.
Each of the Eagle Scouts have made plans for the future.
Jorgenson plans to attend the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Az, where he has earned a $10,500 Edward de Bono scholarship.
Lock plans to attend Bellevue Community College. Between working at a local Chinese restaurant and school, he plans to squeeze in time to travel the world.
Lee plans to continue his education at Green River Community College.
Beck plans to attend Renton Technical College this fall to earn an associates degree in Computer Science. He then hopes to continue on to the DigiPen Institute of Technology to earn a degree in gaming design and development.
