The Alajawan Brown Foundation is hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 28, on West Hill.
The foundation is preparing to serve 200 meals on a first-come, first-served basis.
The cooks for most of the turkey dinner are Louis and Ayanna Brown, parents of Alajawan Brown, who was shot to death on April 29, 2010, while walking home from a bus stop on Martin Luther King Way Jr. on West Hill. A Kent man was convicted of killing Alajawan, who was 12.
A family friend is preparing candied yams and community members are providing the desserts, says Ayanna Brown.
The dinner is noon to 4 p.m. at the Skyway VFW Post 9430 hall, 7421 S. 126th St., Skyway.
“Louis and I put the word out that this event was a great and heartfelt desire in continued honor of Alajawan’s legacy,” said Brown, adding support is pouring in from all over.
She offered thanks to Skyway VFW Post 9430, Renton Fred Meyer, Skyway Grocery Outlet, the corporate office of Renton Safeway, The Copy Machine, Inc. and Connie Braune, a Wendy’s district manager, for their support.
