Liberty, Renton pick up big wins | Girls basketball

The Liberty girls basketball team picked up a big win Friday night, beating Juanita 58-46. The Patriots (5-0 overall, 3-0 KingCo 3A/2A) are undefeated and in first place in the KingCo 3A/2A. Liberty went on a 25-12 run in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Aspen Winegar led Liberty with 14 points. Ashlan Applegate scored 12.

Hazen

Hazen stayed close to Kennedy Catholic until the fourth quarter, but the Lancers won 59-39 Friday night.

The Highlanders (1-2, 0-2 Seamount) trailed by nine point heading into the fourth when Kennedy went on an 18-6 run.

Cameron Devereux scored seven points to lead Hazen. Cecillee Fernandez and Javonya Stewart each scored six.

Renton

Two big runs helped Renton beat Lindbergh 61-32 Friday night.

The Indians (2-2, 2-0) dominated early, moving out to a 17-0 run in the first quarter. Lindbergh (2-2, 1-1) cut into the lead slightly and trailed by just 15 at the half. The third quarter was all about Renton again, as the Indians outscored the Eagles 29-8.

Taylor Farris scored 17 to lead Renton. Priscilla Tuiasosopo scored 11. Shanease Kenner added 10.

Christina Wiley scored 15 for Lindbergh. Emily Graver and Shayna Magat each scored six.
