I am writing on behalf of Ed Prince, currently running for City Council member of Renton. When Ed talks about Renton being “Ahead of the Curve,” he’s not just talking about keeping up sidewalks and supporting businesses. He’s talking about making Renton a place to be proud of, locally and regionally. A place people look to move to because of what Renton offers. Ed understands the importance of public safety and jobs, and still appreciates the value of the arts in education and in our community.
I am the artistic director of Evergreen City Ballet, one of the few remaining performing arts companies in Renton. I became acquainted with Ed Prince when The Next Curve, the philanthropic organization that Ed co-founded, awarded a grant to our company to help bring performing arts education to Renton elementary school children. I know Ed Prince to be a strong advocate for the arts and truly understands the importance of art within a child’s education, Ed understands a community that supports the arts due to the economical benefit and what art brings to Renton. I know Ed will help make Renton a great place for the performing arts. Ed and his wife support Evergreen City Ballet, Renton Civic Theatre, and the Summer Teen Musical. This may seem like a small thing for our city, but it isn’t, it’s essential.
One of the things I respect so much about Ed Prince is his ability to balance the interests and needs of the people of Renton. Ed is aware of how important this component of our city is to our future.
Kevin Kaiser, Seattle
artistic/executive director, Evergreen City Ballet
