In August, the citizens of Renton will have to choose between three candidates who would like to be the next person to represent them on the Renton City Council. I am confident that when voters examine the choices, Ed Prince will be the candidate who gets their vote.
I first became aware of Ed before his neighborhood was even part of Renton. His house was in an area that was not annexed yet, but he still wanted to be part of our community and, as a result was active in local volunteer opportunities. He was a guy who was working to make our city better because it was in his neighborhood.
After the Benson Hill Community was annexed, Ed became even more active in the city. He applied to and was appointed by Mayor Law to be on the Renton Planning Commission where we have served together for three years working on difficult issues before they went to the Renton City Council.
Ed also works with different communities in his professional life. Almost all of his time at work is spent finding the middle ground where two sides can agree. I think that this quality will serve him well on the Renton City Council, where we do not always have disagreement, but when it does occasionally appear we all watch to see how issues can be resolved.
Please vote as soon as you get your ballot next week and join me in supporting Ed Prince. He is the leader we need on our City Council.
