Nelsen Middle School teacher honored as ‘Hero in the Classroom’

Vincent Davis was presented with a $1,000 check to be used for classroom materials and tickets to this weekend's Seahawks game against the Tennessee Titans at CenturyLink Field, where Davis will be acknowledged during an on-field presentation.

Symetra and the Seattle Seahawks this week honored a Nelson Middle School teacher as a “Symetra Hero in the Classroom” during a surprise classroom visit.

Vincent Davis was presented with a $1,000 check to be used for classroom materials and tickets to this weekend’s Seahawks game against the Tennessee Titans at CenturyLink Field, where Davis will be acknowledged during an on-field presentation.

“Vince is an exceptional teacher who has taught many different subjects, but has excelled with special education students and learners who are new to English,” said Brian Hoskins, a colleague at Nelson Middle School and former Hero in the Classroom nominee, in a press release.

“Vince is a very kind person who has incredible patience with his students and creates the best atmosphere for his learners. He’s offered evening English classes for the parents of his students and has done outreach in areas where his students live to promote involvement in the community and school,” he added.

Sixteen area teachers will be honored for educational excellence in the Symetra Heroes in the Classroom program during this NFL Season. Nominations can be submitted by students, parents, school staff or others. Winners are selected based on their ability to make a real difference in students’ lives; to go above and beyond in their day-to-day responsibilities and to help students build life skills.
