The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports.
A Renton mother and daughter got into a fight and the mother was taken to jail on July 22.
The argument started when the two were driving home to a residence in the 700 block of South 31st Street around 5 p.m.
The argument turned physical when the daughter, 18, called the mother, 45, names and the mother took her daughter’s identification card. The daughter sustained numerous scratches and cuts to her body including bite marks.
Police arrested the mother for investigation of fourth-degree assault.
Renton woman attacked
A Renton woman was attacked in an attempted sexual assault by an acquaintance on July 22.
The 20-year-old woman was picked up by the man at her house in Renton and they went to hang out with a friend in Kent for about an hour. Instead of taking her home afterward, the man parked his vehicle in the 800 block of South 23rd Street.
He tried to kiss the woman several times and she refused his advances. The man then exposed himself and tried to get the woman to touch him, at which time the woman escaped the vehicle.
The woman began to walk home and the man pulled up beside her and offered her a ride home, but she refused.
The woman’s mother persuaded her to report the incident to police.
Large fight at Saigon Palms
A fight involving 30 to 40 people was reported at Saigon Palms in Renton on July 24.
Police were told that firearms were seen among the group while they were en route to the club, 101 S.W. 41st St., just after midnight. When police arrived no one was actively fighting. They did locate one man who had been punched and knocked unconscious. The 47-year-old man did not know who hit him and did not want to pursue charges.
Police interviewed numerous people outside of the club. One man said he saw the group who started the fight, but was unable to later identify the subjects of the investigation.
Brother, sister got violent
A Seattle brother and sister got into a violent argument in Renton on July 24.
The reason for the argument is unknown, but witnesses and the victim, the 22-year-old sister, told police the 20-year-old brother punched the sister in the face multiple times and pulled out her hair at a residence in the 1600 block of Index Avenue Southeast after midnight.
The brother fled the residence when police arrived. Police spotted him a short time later and again he ran away.
Later police discovered him hiding in a vehicle in the driveway to the residence. An officer had to order the man out of the vehicle by drawing his gun.
Police arrested him for investigation of fourth-degree assault and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
Suspicious home attack
A Renton man woke up covered in glass from an apparent attack on his apartment on July 24.
The incident occurred at a residence in the 900 block of Harrington Avenue Northeast around 7 a.m.
The 38-year-old man was asleep in his bed when he heard a loud bang. He woke up and found he was covered in glass from a broken window above his bed. He looked out of his window, but did not see anyone. So, he got dressed and went to the back of the apartments to investigate. He found no one and the gate was still locked, but he told police that people are constantly jumping the fence and walking between the two buildings.
Seafair vehicle vandalized
The Seafair Pirate “Duck” was vandalized while in Renton on July 26.
A police officer was talking with the operator of the submersible vehicle at around 10 p.m. near 201 Williams Ave. S.
They were approached by a man who appeared to have just come from a nearby bar. The man inspected the vehicle for a short time then disappeared behind the vehicle. After about 20 seconds, the officer and the operator went to the other side of the vehicle and saw the man standing there. On the “Duck” was the word “Slayer” written in black marker. No one else was around the man and police questioned him.
He admitted to vandalizing the vehicle. The “Duck” had recently had improvements which cost more than $60,000 due to a vehicle fire. It was estimated that the damages would cost around $500 to repair.
The man was arrested for investigation of third-degree malicious mischief.
Dog attacks 6-year-old boy
A 6-year-old boy was bitten by a German Shepherd at a birthday party in Renton on July 16.
A large group of children were playing at a residence close to the 200 block of Hardie Avenue Southwest at about 4 p.m.
The six-year-old boy came running close to a neighboring property where the dog lives and the dog chased the boy. The dog bit the boy above his waist line causing him to bleed.
The owner was given a citation for allowing a vicious dog to roam at large and an infraction for not having a dog license.
Indecent exposure at park
A man exposed himself to two teenage girls at Phillip Arnold Park on July 22.
The incident happened at the park located at 720 Jones Avenue South around 1:30 p.m. The young women, age 15 and 16, were riding their bikes through the park when they passed him in his vehicle. The man was hanging out of his vehicle with the driver’s side door open with no pants on involved in a sex act in front of the girls.
The young women rode out of the park warning a female passerby of what they saw. This woman called police and approached the vehicle, but it drove away.
The suspect is described as a white male, with black hair, facial hair, about 5-foot-11-inches tall. He had a thin build and was only wearing a dark shirt. His vehicle was a black sport utility, equipped with a roof rack and a dark bicycle was mounted on top.
Police believe that based on where the vehicle was spotted, close to several mountain bike trails, the suspect is likely to frequent the park.
Man’s vehicle vandalized
A Renton man had his vehicle vandalized and suspected his ex-wife on July 27.
The man had parked his 2008 Jeep Wrangler at 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot of his current girlfriend’s residence, who lives in the 1300 block of South Eagle Ridge Drive. When he returned to it at about 6 a.m. he discovered it covered in orange and red paint and some other vehicles parked next to it splattered as well.
His vehicle appeared to be the main target from the attack. The man suspected his ex-wife, who he divorced in May, because she had recently left him threatening and abusive voicemails and text messages. She left a note at his home that said, “Get Ready” and another note on his Jeep that contained some derogatory comments.
Neighbors told him the woman had been knocking on doors at his girlfriend’s apartment complex trying to locate his girlfriend’s residence.
Police questioned neighbors and no one saw the vandalism take place, so there was not sufficient evidence for charging the ex-wife with a crime.
