The Renton Regional Fire Authority this week officially appointed Rick Marshall as Interim Fire Chief. Marshall will take over for Mark Peterson, who retired Sept. 30.
Marshall joined the Renton Fire Department in 1984 and has worked his way through various positions, including most recently as Assistant Chief. Through his career he has worked as Battalion Chief assigned to Response Operations and as Assistant Chief in charge of the transition from Renton Fire Department to Renton Regional Fire Authority.
“Chief Marshall brings a wealth of experience to this position, as well as deep ties to the community and fire department,” RRFA Board Chair Ed Prince said in a press release. “Over the last 29 years, he has been committed to being a strong leader and I am thrilled that he will continue to do so as our new interim fire chief.”
Marshall has worked to create positive and lasting partnerships with the community and the RRFA. He has served on various committees throughout his career and is well-known and respected member of the public safety community, according to the release.
“I am honored to work alongside the great en and women of the Renton Regional Authority,” Marshall said in a press release. “I feel privileged to continue to serve this community as interim fire chief. I am looking forward to the great things I know we can accomplish together.”
Marshall received is Associate of Arts degree from Bellevue College in Fire Command and Administration. In addition to extensive training in technical rescue, he has served as the team leader for the Hazardous Materials Response Team and the Water Rescue Team.
He is nationally recognized instructor in Hazardous Materials and Incident Command and has represented the Renton Regional Fire Authority serving on numerous regional and national committees.
