The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports:
Police shut down the Cedar River Trail after finding an explosive, which appeared to be an improvised commercial firework, at about 10 a.m., May 15.
The bomb was about 2 inches in diameter with black zip ties surrounding it and a green fuse protruding from within.
The Port of Seattle Police Department Bomb Disposal Unit responded to the scene and requested the trail closure just south of the Maple Valley Highway.
The bomb unit destroyed the device on the scene and the trail was reopened with only minor delay.
Husky stolen
A 1-year-old cream white Husky dog was stolen from a man’s front yard on the 16800 block of 120th Avenue Southeast.
The area was fenced and the dog was chained next to its dog house. The owner gave it a treat at night and woke up the next morning to find it missing.
The owner suspected it was theft because the chain wasn’t broken and there wasn’t a collar to be found. The fence gate was also left open.
The dog was equipped with a microchip.
Armed robbery
A man was driving on the 200 block of Southwest Sunset Boulevard when a suspect jumped in his car with a gun and robbed him May 14 at about 5 p.m.
The suspect took an envelope with $523 saying, “Is this all the money you got?” and “Don’t even trip; I just want your money.”
The envelope contained a cashed paycheck and the money was going to his landlord, who had already given him a break for being late.
The victim’s wallet was resting next to him, but the suspect didn’t take it. The suspect ran westbound on Southwest Sunset Boulevard.
Mocking drunk
Police arrested a drunken 23-year-old girl for obstruction of justice after she threatened them and was verbally abusive at about 12:30 a.m., May 25, outside Pounder’s Bar at 211 Main Ave. S.
Along with a list of sexual insults and expletives, she repeatedly requested a different officer, because the responding officers were “fat, ugly and a pussy.”
She told the officers that they were probably beat up in school and now they were just “power tripping.”
She then repeatedly asked one officer what his education was, saying she thought he was stupid.
She also threatened to kick them below the waist several times. When she stood close, they stepped back, thinking the 100-pound girl might actually attempt to assault them.
After the suspect didn’t obey orders to step back, the officer pushed her back easily, but she was drunk and fell.
When she continued to stand too close, an officer restrained and arrested her.
The officers were responded to call from the suspect’s friends, who were concerned for her well being after she left a nearby bar drunk.
While inside the patrol vehicle, she began kicking the door with her feet. The officer warned her that if she did damage she’d be charged with malicious mischief.
