Last election cycle I wrote a letter to the Editor regarding the lack of civility by then candidate Steve Litzow, and how he was making an effort to disrespect the citizens of Renton by claiming that citizen’s of Bellevue and Mercer Island were the “Gold Standard.” This statement diminishes the remaining members of the 41st Legislative District; including Renton, Newcastle and a portion of Issaquah. This is a very condescending statement from someone who wished to represent the entire District. Apparently Mr. Litzow, having lost that election, has decided that he now wants to be the 41st District’s State Senator. Still disrespect Renton, Newcastle and Issaquah Mr. Litzow?

That brings me to the current race for 41st District House of Representative Position 1, between Marcie Maxwell and Peter Dunbar. Mr. Dunbar, a Republican, has begun making insinuations that Marcie Maxwell’s campaign is running a “dirty and slanderous” campaign. I’ve yet to read anything which supports this statement. Is there something about Mr. Dunbar which makes him want to emulate Mr. Litzow in his method of campaigning? This need by Mr. Litzow and Mr. Dunbar to attempt to raise their status by making wholly unwarranted claims and accusations is derogatory campaigning without having the guts to come out and provide specifics. Come on, let’s behave ourselves and act like adults.

Marice Maxwell has done a fine job of representing our 41st District these past two years; which has been very difficult, due to the State’s current financial woes. She’s worked tirelessly and will continue to represent us to the best of her ability. I am willing to stand up and recommend that Marcie Maxwell continue with the fine job she’s been doing for everyone in the 41st.
