One did not have to work hard to write this letter to the editor as your last edition of March 12 said it all, especially the first page. “Renton working hard to keep FAA in City” and Mayor “Law sees challenging year, but progress” because “Renton’s first strip club” is opening. Page 5 says that the “City reviews adult-use ordinance.” Renton is behind the CURVE on this one. According to the article, “The Renton club as been in the planning process for about a year.” Mr. Tim Lyons, a principal in SinRock LLC, the owners, said: “The city has made us jump through every hoop.” And now we are going to have a PUBLIC hearing on this issue. City Hall, Mr. Mayor, knew about it all along. My suggestion to Mr. Tim Lyons would be to make a donation to Friends of Renton Schools/Renton Community Foundation of between $3,000 and $10,000 and then Club Sin Rock can have its name on a massive banner hanging from the Renton City Hall, also be memorialized with a plaque on City Hall according to the current plan. This takes care of advertising and marketing for Club SinRock and cements their position with City Hall and the community and then we can have a picture of our planning commissioners and City Council, including our mayor, cutting the ribbon on opening day.
How is that for progress and something to report in next year State of the City address. Renton lost its CURVE on this one!
