National Night Out scheduled for Tuesday in the Highlands

The event showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build a safer nation.

City of Renton is hosting this year’s National Night Out is Tuesday, Aug. 2 at Highlands Neighborhood Center.

Residents in neighborhoods throughout Renton and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors. There will be good, games and party hoppers for kids.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and in participation in, local anti-crime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
