One woman was killed and two people were injured Wednesday evening in a three-car accident that closed South Grady Way for several hours.
According to police, the collision occurred at about 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Sough Grady Way and Shattuck Avenue South. A sedan traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed drove through a red light and struck a second car, which was northbound on Shattuck. The force of the impact carried the second car into an SUV that was waiting at the light.
The driver of the second sedan, a women whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two drivers suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the first car was detained for investigation of driving under the influence. A 36-year-old Seattle man was booked for investigation of vehicular homicide.
The road remained closed for several hours Wednesday evening as police investigated the accident.
