The following information was compiled from Renton Police Department incident reports

Two officers were dispatched on Dec. 2 after reports of what sounded like gun shots at the back of a King County Metro bus that was heading to the Renton Transit Center on Burnett Avenue South.

As passengers get off of the bus, a Metro employee pointed the officers toward a male suspect who already disembarked and said that he noticed the suspect hide a firearm.

The officers drove up to the suspect and turned on the emergency lights and short blips of siren, however, he ignored them. An officer got out of the patrol vehicle and ordered the suspect to the ground, which he complied. The suspect was then detained in handcuffs. Upon a pat-down search, officers found a .22 cal hi-standard revolver in the crotch area.

After searching the suspect’s name, officers found that he had a $20,000 felony warrant for forgery, as well as several third-degree theft warrants. He was previously convicted of first-degree robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The suspect seemed intoxicated and said he got the gun from “nowhere” and denied shooting it. According to the officers, his speech slurred and he had difficulty focusing on the conversation.

Officers later found a bullet hole in the bus, most likely from the suspect’s firearm discharge.

He was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Cash grab: Police was dispatched on Dec. 3 to the Arco AM PM on South Grady Way after reports of a theft from the cash register.

According to the reporting party, a male suspect, probably 18-20 years old, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and gray jeans attempted to purchase a Vitamin water and a bag of candy inside the store. He handed the employee a $5 bill. When the victim opened the cash register to get the change, the suspect reached both hands across the counter and grabbed cash out of the register. The employee attempted to reach the suspect from taking the cash, but the suspect pulled his arm causing pain.

The suspect placed the cash in the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt and went outside. He got inside a dark green Nissan Sentra or Maxima, that was also occupied with three other males.

The employee estimated about $100-200 in cash was stolen. There is no further suspect information at this time.

Distract and snatch: A woman was shopping at the Fred Meyer on 108th Avenue Southeast on Dec. 02 when she was interrupted by another female who asked for assistance in sizing up the sweater. She momentarily turned her back on her shopping cart and purse to assist the other lady, and when she turned back she discovered her wallet had been stolen from her purse.

The victim said that there was $80 in cash and two credit cards inside her $10 wallet. There is no further suspect information at this time.
