Three classes at Renton Park Elementary spent a recent week constructing musical tubes of rain.

Under the direction of Renton Park music teacher Marlene Creaser, the fourth and fifth graders created rain sticks, South American musical instruments that rattle like the patter of rain.

The rain stick project was funded by a grant from the Kids in Need Foundation, sponsored by the Fred Meyer Corporation.
