The following information was compiled from Renton Police Department incident reports.
Officers were contacted on Oct. 24 regarding reports of a man who attempted to shoplift at Walmart.
The loss prevention officer said he saw the suspect select several items, conceal them into the backpack and leave the store. The loss prevention officer was able to stop the suspect.
The suspect attempted to steal around $400 worth of items.
According to the police report, the man was homeless and had a warrant.
The reporting officer searched his backpack and found multiple Washington state IDs an Alaska state ID, a Tukwila Parks and Recreation youth ID, all of which did not belong to the suspect. The officer also found credit cards that did not belong to the suspect.
When asked about it, the suspect said he was in Tukwila when he watched a car drive by and throw a bag out the window. He said he looked through the bag and found the IDs and credit cards, and that he was planning on selling them on the street.
The officer also found a notebook with a list of names attached with FICO scores, credit limits and other information that indicated involvement in fraud and forgery. The officer noted some of the names in the notebook were consistent with the names of the credit cards in the suspect’s possession.
The suspect was arrested for third-degree theft and possession of other’s ID card, and was sent to SCORE jail.
RESTAURANT BREAK IN: A man reported his restaurant, located on the 100 block of Sunset Boulevard North, was burglarized sometime between Oct. 19 and Oct.. 27.
He said the restaurant was under renovation. He showed police a wooden entrance door on that was pried open, and a makeshift sleeping area, and two candles that were still lit placed near the restroom. There was also a silver Samsung Galaxy S6 that was being charged behind the main counter.
He reported two black flat screen TVs (estimated value of $600 each), a computer (estimated value of $200), and about 30 bottles of liquor (estimated value of $1,500) were stolen.
There is no suspect information at this time.
CREDIT CARD THEFT: A woman contacted police to report she received a notification that her credit card was used for $500 at the Albertsons on Oct. 26.
According to the police report, she was at a park when she received the notification. When she returned to her car, she said the rear driver’s side window was broken and her purse that was inside was missing.
The purse was a Coach cross body bag, estimated to value around $120. The Kate Spade wallet inside is estimated to be around $100. Her wallet had three credit cards. One was used at Albertsons and another was used at online store.
Police checked video footage from Albertsons and found the suspect to be a woman in her 20s or 30s wearing a pink shirt and a purple University of Washington beanie.
There is no further information on this case.
BROKEN WINDSHIELD: A woman contacted police on Oct. 25 to report someone had damaged the rear windshield of her car.
She said her car was parked in the driveway of her house, located on Hardie Avenue Northwest, and that there was a small hole in the bottom right corner of the window.
There is no suspect information at this time.
