For the first time in Liberty’s 40 year school history, the Patriots boys basketball team clinched the KingCo 2A/3A title.
The boys beat Sammamish Tuesday 64-35.
The only regular season loss for the Patriots came mid-January against Bellevue. Since then, the boys have gone on a five game win streak.
One game remains in the regular season when Liberty hosts Cedarcrest at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2.
The postseason begins a week later when No. 1 seed Liberty enters the district tournament for a 7 p.m. tip off Saturday, Feb. 10.
The tournament will be played at Mount Vernon High School. Liberty’s opponent was not known at the time of press.
Liberty Girls
The regular season ended Tuesday for the Patriots.
The girls beat Sammamish 64-49. The win is the second in a row and improves the Patriots to 8-6 in conference play and 11-9 overall.
Post season play will begin Feb. 7 at Mount Vernon High School.
