Boeing reached a significant milestone — it produced its 10,000th 737 jetliner.
Hundreds of Boeing employees gathered at the 737 plant in Renton on the morning of March 13 to celebrate the milestone MAX 8 airplane that will go to Southwest Airlines at the end of the month.
“This incredible milestone is a testament to the work we do every day to build the most reliable and efficient single-aisle airplane in the world,” said CEO Kevin McAllister.
To commemorate the event, officials at Southwest Airlines presented a $10,000 check to Boeing’s community fund at the event.
Boeing will increase the 737 production from the current rate of 47 airplanes per month to 52 airplanes per month later this year, according to a press release.
