Renton soccer beats Steilacoom to stay alive

The Renton Indians girls soccer team kept their season alive Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Steilacoom at Renton Memorial Stadium.

The Renton Indians girls soccer team kept their season alive Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Steilacoom at Renton Memorial Stadium.

Sophomore forward Liberty Beverly scored first for Renton, off an assist from junior midfielder Asia Brisco. Brisco then picked up a goal of her own to seal the win.

The Indians, who were seeded no. 2 in the 2A Seamount League, advance to play Lindbergh at 2 p.m. Saturday at Franklin Pierce Stadium in Tacoma. Lindbergh was seeded first in the 2A Seamount League, but lost their opening round game to North Kitsap on Thursday.

The winner of Renton-Lindbergh will advance to the state tournament as the third-place finisher from the district. The loser’s season will end.
