The Lindbergh boys basketball clinched its first state berth since 1991 with a 54-31 win against Evergreen Thursday.
The Eagles (14-10) lost to Evergreen twice, by a combined 11 points, in the regular season. Their defense led the way Thursday night, holding the Wolverines to 12 points through the first three quarters.
Lindbergh built a 27-8 lead at the half and led 40-12 through three quarters.
Colin Malone led Lindbergh with 15 points. Brandon Brown scored 10.
The Eagles face Sumner Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Foss High School. If they win that game, they will play in the West Central District 2A title game Monday at 10 a.m. at the ShoWare Center in Kent.
Lindbergh’s only state appearance came in 1991, when the team appeared in the 3A tournament and lost both games.
Renton
Renton fell to White River 55-49 in the opening round of the district tournament and will take on Kingston Saturday at 2:45 p.m. at Foss High School.
The Indians (10-13) must win their next three games in a row to make state.
Foster
Foster lost to Clover Park 64-49 Thursday night.
The Bulldogs (11-13) trailed 32-10 at the half. Ablie Leigh scored 15 points to lead the team. Gabe Guteirrez added 14.
Foster takes on Fife Saturday at 12:45 p.m. at Foss High School. The Bulldogs must win their next three games in a row to make state.
