Editor’s Note: Please help us as we welcome our newest reporter to Renton — Haley Ausbun.

I’m Haley Ausbun and I’m the new reporter for the Renton Reporter.

Before I arrived to Renton, I had just graduated Western Washington University with a degree in Journalism, and a minor in cultural anthropology. I worked for the school newspaper and Klipsun magazine, as well as the La Conner Weekly News.

I grew up in Puyallup and went to Tacoma School of the Arts for theatre.

When I moved to Bellingham to attend Western I quickly found a passion for journalism.

As a recent college graduate, I have so much energy and excitement that I bring to this job, but that can only take me so far. What I really hope for is to hear from community members about the kind of coverage you are looking for in the newspaper.

I still have so much to learn about the city of Renton and south King County, and my goal is to know the people and the area in a holistic, genuine way, where I can provide fair and thoughtful news coverage for everyone.

At my position I will cover a variety of topics, so I’m more than open to story ideas.
