Photos: kids C.A.S.T. for fish

On a crisp cloudy morning, Saturday, Sept. 8, about 40 kids with disabilities, and their siblings, got out on the waters of Lake Washington with bass fishermen for the 24 year of C.A.S.T. for Kids. Fishermen volunteered their expertise and their boats to get these kids on the water.

“Bass fishing is an expensive hobby so it’s nice to give back with events like this,” Stuart Squires, vice president of Washington Bass Association said at the event.

C.A.S.T. Executive Director Jay Yelas, a professional bass fishermen for 31 years, said it’s a great way to share the joy of fishing with kids, and meeting new people while learning a skill. He said one kid at the event even saw an eagle swoop down and eat something off the water.
