Wyla Mae Spangler, ne Runyon, passed away on January 24, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 86.
Born in Seattle Washington on July 19, 1932, Wyla was the eldest of three siblings. She spent her childhood in Everett and Machias, Washington, graduating as Salutatorian from Everett High school. After attending classes at Everett Community College, Wyla worked at her parent’s grocery store and in the banking industry.
Wyla married Roy Edmond Spangler in August, 1953. They moved to Seattle, Washington where they made their home in Seward Park and raised two children. She was a happy homemaker, and her family was always her first priority.
Favorite pastimes of Wyla’s included organizing family gatherings, camping and road trips, bowling, playing board games and bingo, enjoying the occasional visit to the casino, and trying out new restaurants. She was especially fond of collecting dolls, miniature perfumes, figurines and depression glassware.
Wyla was a thoughtful, optimistic, incredibly generous person, with a wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Wyla was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 2008, and her sister Tennie Marie Brienen in 2017. She is survived by her daughter Terrie and her husband Bill; her son Douglas and his wife Sherry, her grandchildren Kimberly, Bobby, Katie, Garrett, Floyden, and Elliott, their spouses, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 12th.
