Hazen finished fourth out of eight teams behind Kentwood, Tahoma, and Kent-Meridian at the North Puget Sound League Championships Tournament last weekend.

The Highlanders finished ahead of Kentlake, Kentridge, Kennedy and Mount Rainier.

Eight athletes qualified for the WIAA 4A Region 3 Championships and two earned alternate spots.

• 1st place: Will Sirbu (106) defeated Tuombe Selestine (KL) by fall @ 2:38

• 2nd place: John Gonzalez (132) loss by fall to Sokhan Son (KM) @ :41

• 3rd place: Chinda Xayasanh (113) 3-2 Dec over Carter Clark (T)

Quan Ly (132) 5-3 Dec over Carson Yancey (KW)

Conor McBride (160) Win by default over Max Whitney (HZN)

• 4th place: Carlos Crespo (152) 3-1 loss to Josh Ashabranner (KL)

Max Whitney (160) Loss by default to Conor McBride (HZN)

Jayden Hewitt (285) Loss by fall @ 2:52 to Justin Ketzenberg (T)

• 5th place (Alternate): Rudolf Sirbu (113) Maj. Dec. 13-4 over Mason Melendez (T)

Gabe Silva (152) win by fall @ :19 over Armani Brooks (KM)
