Patriot snags No. 1 spot in 500 yard free

26 swimmers from Liberty and Lindbergh High Schools place at state tournament.

Patriot snags No. 1 spot in 500 yard free

The Liberty and Lindbergh boys swim teams placed among the top 15 in state last weekend at the King County Aquatic Center.

The Patriots finished as the No. 5 team in the 2A with a team score of 207.

The Eagles placed No. 12 overall as a team with a score of 63.

Liberty junior Warren Briggs secured the No. 1 spot in the 500 yard free.

He finished in 4 minutes, 36.52 seconds. Briggs came in more than two seconds ahead of the No. 2 swimmer.

During the preliminaries, Briggs finished in second with 4:38.23.

The Patriots had 16 other swimmers place among the best in state.

Those swimmers include:

• 200 yard medley relay: AlexNguyen, Brian Kim, Amon Rittenberg and Andrew Kim; fifth place — 1:40.93

• 200 yard free: Warren Briggs; second place — 1:41.90

• 200 yard free: Ian DeVogel; 13th place — 1:50.95

• 200 yard IM: Amon Rittenberg; sixth place —2:04.15

• 200 yard IM: Justin Ung; 12th place — 2:06.70

• 200 yard IM: Alex Nguyen; 16th place — 2:08.99

• 50 yard free: Andrew Kim; 10th place — 22.59

• 1 meter diving: TJ Tribble; 15th place — score of 213.05

• 100 yard fly: Amon Rittenberg; ninth place — 53.62

• 100 yard free: Brian Kim; ninth place — 49.59

• 500 yard free: Ian DeVogel; seventh place —5:01.58

• 200 yard free relay: Amon Rittenberg, Andrew Kim, Ian DeVogel and Warren Briggs; third place — 1:31.10

• 100 yard back: Bruce Vagt; 13th place — 57.42

• 100 yard breast: Brian Kim; fifth place —1:00.10

• 100 yard breast: Andrew Kim; 11th place — 1:02.06

• 400 yard free relay: Ian DeVogel, Bruce Vagt, Brian Kim and Warren Briggs; seventh place — 3:21.99

Lindbergh

Lindbergh had nine swimmers place during the 2019 state meet.

The other state placers for the Eagles include:

• 200 yard medley relay: Ryan Lui, Ethan Childs, Henry Tran and Phillip Pham; 14th place — 1:52.08

• 200 yard free: Minh Pham; 16th place — 1:53.91

• 1 meter diving: Danik Khivrenko; sixth place — score of 252.40

• 1 meter diving: Eduard Fedchyk; 13th place — score of 232.10

• 100 yard free: Minh Pham; 16th place — 51.45

• 500 yard free: Antonio Ortiz; 14th place — 5:06.01

• 200 yard free relay: Connor Donahue, Andrew Albrecht, Henry Tran and Minh Pham; ninth place —1:34.94

• 100 yard breast: Henry Tran; 14th place — 1:02.99

• 400 yard free relay: Minh Pham, Andrew Albrecht, Antonio Ortiz and Connor Donahue; 10th place — 3:28.86
