A driver hit several vehicles and crashed into a house while trying to flee from Renton police officers, along South 34th Street and Main Avenue South, while an officer was halfway in attempting to detain them.

The incident caused delays Thursday morning, Sept. 5.

According to Renton Police Department, there was only cosmetic damage to the house and nobody was injured. The officer was transportation to Valley Medical Center for minor injury evaluation.

At 7:25 a.m. a neighbor called police to report a red pickup truck had been partially blocking the roadway since 1 a.m. Renton officer arrived to three people sleeping in the vehicle and state they saw “possible narcotics” in the vehicle.

The driver was arrested without incident. A passenger then got into the drivers seat.

One of the officers was partly in the vehicle trying to detain that passenger when the subjects suddenly took off. The passenger then lost control, hitting a parked car and the nearby house.

All three people in the vehicle were detained. Police arrested the driver and suspect that attempted to flea, that suspect was taken in for investigation of assault on an officer, DUI and several warrants, according to police. The third passenger was evaluated at Valley Medical Center and released.
