Lindbergh beats Bremerton to stay alive

Lindbergh was forced to play Tuesday after losing to Renton on Friday and then getting the third seed in a random draw, due to a three-way tie at the top of the standings with Renton and Foster.

The Lindbergh Eagles kept their season alive with a 28-17 come-from-behind victory Tuesday night over Bremerton at North Kitsap High School.

Lindbergh was forced to play Tuesday after losing to Renton on Friday and then getting the third seed in a random draw, due to a three-way tie at the top of the standings with Renton and Foster.

On Tuesday, Bremerton came out early, racking up a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, but the eagles never gave up.

In the second, Lindbergh got on the board with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Samuel Nehren to Darrien Sawyer-Lamb to make it 10-7, but Bremerton scored again to take a 17-7 lead to halftime.

The teams traded field position through the third but the fourth quarter belonged to the Eagles as Nehren threw two more touchdown passes to Darrien Sawyer-Lamb. The first was a 34-yard touchdown strike, the second went for 26 yards.

In total, Nehren had 203 yards in the air for the Eagles. Sauls racked up 131 yards on the ground and Sawyer-Lamb pulled in 141 yards receiving.

With the win, Lindbergh will survive to play River Ridge at 7 p.m. Saturday in Lacey. If they win that game, they will advance to the state tournament as the No. 1 seed from the district.
