Vision House receives van donation

Families experiencing homeless will soon have reliable transportation to attend job interviews and work toward important housing goals on their journeys out of homelessness

Nonprofit Vision House has a new set of wheels thanks to King County’s retired van program.

On Monday, Sept. 21 at Vision House Renton, the county donated a seven-passenger van to the organization. The local nonprofit that provides transitional housing and support services to families experiencing homelessness, will use the van to help families reach their housing goals.

“This is an incredible gift,” Vision House Executive Director Melissa Gehrig stated in a press release. “Many families do not have access to reliable transportation. This van will allow us to serve families with children who have transportation needs that are often a significant barrier to overcoming homelessness.”

King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn was there Monday to donate the van, as well as 500 masks. Gehrig and Vision House Operations Director James Richey were also in attendance.
